Global Economic Governance: Its Forms, Manifestations and Development in the EU and the World Economy Main Centres

The article characterises globalization tendencies in the world economy first, including their impact on the EU and other main world centres. Then it explains the governance phenomenon and examines its working in different types of market economies (U.S.A., Japan and EU). Furthermore, the article points out the changes in the economic governance forms (especially with respect to the state role). Globalization undermines the traditional shape of national economies and questions the national level of governance. Consequently the activities of selected international institutions such as IMF or G20 are considered a step towards global governance. Economic integration in Western Europe originally represents an attempt at regional governance. Nevertheless, the integration impact on the global economic environment makes the EU an example of a subject of the forming global governance.
