Abstract
In a double-blind trial of six weeks' duration 30 chronic asthmatic outpatients were treated with 5 mg tablets of either fenoterol or terbutaline two to four times daily. In pulmonary function tests on days 1, 21 and 42 there were no statistically significant differences between the two drugs in terms of mean increases in FEV1 or in duration of effect. No decline in efficacy musculoskeletal side effects declined as the study progressed.
