Abstract
The examination of 179 patients with diabetes mellitus has shown that the mechanisms of vascular wall damage and changes in the system of hemostasis are different in type I and II diabetes mellitus. In type I diabetes mellitus vascular wall damages are associated with carbohydrate metabolic derangements, changes in the platelet link of hemostasis and blood coagulation system. In type II diabetes mellitus vascular wall damages are associated with lipid metabolic derangements and changes in the erythrocytic link of hemostasis.
