Abstract
Where guidance on good practice is available it is often not implemented’. This statement by the Health Committee sums up a major problem in the health service which applies to nursing as much as to any other group. In children’s nursing there is a growing body of evidence and guidance about best practice which we have a professional duty to use but which somehow gets left on the shelf.
