This paper describes a selection of recent activities at The Music Research Centre (mrc), University of York, UK.It presents details of current research projects, postgraduate courses and international collaborations.The mrc is one of the premier facilities for practice based research, technical research and postgraduate study in computer music and sound art.The centre specialises in research and development related to new aesthetics in computer music that have emerged since the mid 1990s, and works extensively with independent professional composers and sound artists operating outside institutional economies and contexts.
