Abstract
We did this experiment to see what factors, besides temperature, affect yeast growth. We measured how different amounts of sucrose affect the growth of yeast. In order to test this, we created solutions with yeast, water, and different amounts of sugar and found the difference in their yeast cell density. Basic Biology says that sugar is used to make ATP then ATP is energy used to increase metabolic rate to cause more growth. In turn, we found that having a sucrose concentration causes a higher yeast cell density.
