Anatomy of the Trunk: A Review: Part I

Part I of a résumé of the anatomy of the trunk is presented in this issue. The material, divided into sections, includes an overview of general structure and function which covers the curves of the spinal column, center of gravity, and an orientation to the pelvis; bony anatomy of typical and atypical vertebrae, the ribs, and sternum; and surface anatomy of the anterior thorax, vertebrae, and pelvis; the joints of the vertebral column, types and degrees of motions allowed, and ligamentous and muscle attachments and functions.
