TN recent years, a lot of philosophical energy has -been spent on the problem of deviant causal chains.1 I intend to show that there is no such problem. What is a deviant causal chain? Are there really standards of propriety for causal chains? My question is rhetorical; the fact of the matter is that what have been called deviant causal chains are really inconvenient causal chains.
