Study on state urbanization change based on coefficient of variation

The regional pattern and its change of urbanization level were studied based on statistic data of urban population and city built-up area from 1998 to 2007 of same scale cities,which were provincial capital cities and municipality cities,and index as Increase Rate and Coefficient of Variation were used.The results showed: the regional difference of the East was still higher than the West and the Middle area,but the difference was decreased;the urbanization rate showed the obvious regional difference,that of the East was rapidest before 2003 and the Middle area had been the rapidest after 2003;responses of urbanization of population lagged behind that of urbanization of land.In all,the areal difference of urbanization level had shrunk,but it showed the different shrinking pattern of inner pattern of every part.
