Abstract

Objective To study the relationship between the expression of CD80/CD28 in peripheral blood T lymphocytes and virus load in patients with chronic hepatitis B (CHB). Methods 78 cases of CHB patients were chosen as subjects. Inflammation grade were observed through liver biopsy, the expression of CD80/CD28 in peripheral blood T lymphocytes by flow cytometry and HBV DNA by PCR. Results (1) The ratio of CD80 expression in T lymphocytes in low-grade CHB patients was (3.06±1. 39) % , in moderate-grade CHB patients (4.55±0. 68)% and in severe-grade CHB patients (5. 10±0. 25)% , and the ratio of CD28 expression was (51. 62±10. 30)% , (37. 18±4.89)% , and (34.58±6.69)% respectively. The differences among the three groups were significant(P 0. 05). (2) The logarithm value of serum HBV-DNA in the low-grade, moderate-grade and severe-grade CHB patients was 6.53±1.52, 5.04±1.24, and 3.86±1.09. (3) The ratio of CD80 expression in CHB patients had negative correlation with the logarithm value of serum HBV-DNA (r= -0. 57,P 0. 01) ; while that of CD28 had positive correlation with the logarithm value of serum HBV-DNA (r =0. 05 ,P 0.01). Conclusions Changes of CD80 and CD28 expression in peripheral blood T lymphocytes in CHB patients could be one of the indicators of HBV clarification.
