Abstract

Based on the Anderson and Wincoop(2003) model, this paper deduces a general equilibrium model to measure a country's import and export trade costs.Based on the derived model and UNCTAD statistics on creative products trade, this paper measures the cost level in China's creative export products to 25 major trading partners from 2003 to 2012,and further applies the panel data regression test on factors that affect export trade costs. The results show that the trade cost of China's creative exporting has been on the decline as a whole, and the difficulty of export to cost involved in export to developing economies is lower than that of developed economies. The factors include the level of real per capita income gap between China and its trading partners, cultural difference levels, average nominal tariff levels, foreign trade openness and so on that are in positive correlations with the trade costs of China's creative products export, and factors including the RMB real effective exchange rate, adjacent land and preferential trade arrangements and so on that are negatively correlated with the export costs.Factors such as geographic distance are not necessarily correlated with the trade cost of China's creative product export.
