On the Image of Cloud in Wang Wei's Poems

Abstract
The image of cloud is widely used in Wang Wei's poetry: some poems use cloud to imply the loftiness of the surrounding scenery which also reflects the poet's noble and unsullied morality;some display the image to describe the poet's temperament interwoven with the scenery;some portray cloud to express the enjoyment of sightseeing the landscape;and some even combine the image with Buddhism creeds to convey the profound philosophy.Although the image of cloud varies in his different poems,it always corresponds to the overall style of Wang Wei's poetry: it brightens Wang Wei's tranquil and pure ink-and-wash painting of poetry with a tinge of fresh color,thus extending his poetry's artistic conception.
