Abstract

Aim: To study the effect of Dieldrin on dopamine (DA),serotonin (5-HT)and their metabolites. Methods; The C57- BL mice were divided into 3 groups, and were administrated orally Dieldrin 50mg/kg body weight,40mg/kg body weight and equal amount normal saline, respectively. 3 hours later, these mice were decapitated, and the striatums were isolated from the brains. The levels of dopamine (DA ), serotonin (5-HT), homovanillic acid (HVA ), 5-hydroxyindoleacetic acid (5-'HIAA ) and norepinephrine (NA)in the striatum were measured by high-performance liquid chromatography with electrochemical detection (HLPC-EC ). Results :Dieldrin (50 mg/kg body weight)can decrease the concentrations of DA and NA in the striatum of mice. Conclusion:Dieldrin at great dose can influence metabolism of DA in the striatum of mice and it may be one of the environ- mental factors inducing Parkinson's disease (PD).
