The Transformation of Historical Culture and Classical Short Story in Song Dynasty

The prosperity of the classical short story writing in Tang Dynasty dwarfs the one in Song Dynasty.But the criticism of the latter lacks the dynamic observation of it,as well as a neglect of its original peculiarity and stylistic features.In fact,classical short story in Song Dynasty improves compared with that of Tang Dynasty concerning the depth and width in reflecting some new phenomena of social life,especially the works in dealing of some new contents of social life which is synchronic with real life and which shows the developmental tendency abiding by literary rules.That of Song Dynasty is incomparable with that of Tang Dynasty due to out-of-date idea of fiction and the restriction of new aesthetic content by the old artistic form.Ultimately,it is due to the historical culture of Song Dynasty including the influence and restriction of social state and the thought and idea of the time.
