Spatial autocorrelation analysis on local economy of three economic regions in Eastern China

This paper used the spatial autocorrelation method to analyze the similarities and differences of spatial arrangement in the three major economic regions of eastern coastal areas in China,which is marked as the Bohai Sea region,the Yangtze Delta region and the Zhujiang Delta region.To make the analysis,the Global and Local Moran's I index,along with the spatial weighted matrixes which is revised according to the total mileage of highway,were used as the model,while the ArcToolbox was used as the spatial analyst tool.The result showed that the Yangtze Delta region and the Zhujiang Delta region present significant positive spatial autocorrelation.Compared with the other two regions,the Yangtze Delta region is in a more advanced status and its development pole is greater.Meanwhile,the geographic environment has an impact on the regional economic development.The core cities gather in plain and riverside areas.
