Abstract

A method for determining the uncertainty of on site measuring by a laser tracker system is presented. By measuring the coordinate positions of a series of fixed targets from several instrument locations and calculating the measurement results, the working uncertainty of the total system will be given. This method seeks to evaluate the uncertainty for the entire metrology system, including the environment, the operator technique and the performance of the instrument. So this method can be used quantifiably on-the-spot to evaluate an instrument performance, compare different measurement systems and analyse environmental effects on measurement data.
