Abstract
The rationalism of the Enlightenment influenced by natural sciences has broadened people's way of thinking. It has conveyed humanistic spirit and internal unity. Moreover,it essentially has the power of criticism. This is what is being used in every other aspect of thinking and also the driving power of the rationalism. So J.J.Rousseau, L.G.Herder and I.Kant are the real self-conquerors during the enlightenment. It is the power of self-criticism that broadens the views of the great thinkers in the Enlightenment. It is also this power that shows the ture value of the rationalism of the Enlightenment. Althought rationalism in the Enlightenment has been history long, the original power of that period is still of fascination for people today. This is probably why it makes us to go back the Age of the Enlightenment.
