Abstract

Objective To investigate the expressions of chemokine receptor CXCR4 and matrix metalloproteinase MMP-2 in the colorectal cancer and to study their relationship with tumor metastasis. Methods Immunohistochemical method was used to detect the expressions of CXCR4 and MMP-2 in the colorectal cancer and tumor-adjacent normal colorectal tissues. The correlation of the expressions of chemokine receptor CXCR4 and MMP-2 with the lymph node metastasis, liver metastasis and clinical stage was evaluated. Results The positive expression rates of CXCR4 in the colorectal cancer and tumor-adjacent normal colorectal tissues were 64.3% and 20.0% respectively. There was significant difference between the two groups. The positive expression rates of MMP-2 in the colorectal cancer and tumor-adjacent normal colorectal tissues were 78.5% and 30.0% respectively, and the difference was statistically significant. The expressions of CXCR4 and MMP-2 were related to the lymph node metastasis and clinical stage. Conclusion CXCR4 and MMP-2 were highly expressed in the colorectal cancer.CXCR4 and MMP-2 may promote the metastasis of colorectal cancer.
