Abstract
Several common bleaching agents such as sodium hypochlorite, sodium chlorite and hydrogen peroxide will produce absorbable organic halogen AOX and pollute environment. In this paper, peracetic acid bleaching agent with lower AOX applied to ramie fabrics was discussed. The optimum process conditions were as follows: concentration of peraceti cacid 7 g /L, concentration of sodium pyrophosphate 37 g /L, pH value 6, temperature 70 ℃, time 80 minutes, liquor ratio 1∶30. The sodium pyrophosphate as stabilizer in peracetic acid bleaching can increase whiteness. In addition, the results of peracetic acid bleaching and their apparent shade depth of dyed fabrics are compared with that of hydrogen peroxide bleaching.
