Abstract
Frankliniella occidentalis is one of the important quarantine pests in the world. This pest not only damages crops, but also transmits virus, thus causing serious economic loss to crops. As the F.occidentalis invaded into China, and the tomato spotted wilt virus it transmitted was found in various regions in China,it seriously threatened the cash crops due to its wide suitable distribution areas. This article summarizes the process that F.occidentalis gets, carries and transmits the tomato spotted wilt virus, and the cycle of the virus in F.occidentalis and the associated mechanism. This article also reviews the F.occidentalis-virus-plant interaction and its effect on the fitness of F.occidentalis,so as to provide a guide to the fundamental research and application in the transmission of tomato spotted wilt virus mediated by F.occidentalis.
