The Carnival Connotations of Protoecological Tujia Dances

The carnival theory is one of the most important spiritual and cultural phenomena in the 20th century human history of thinking.The protoecological Tujia dances are an artistic expression of Tujia folk rituals and cultural mentality,reflecting the production and life style of Tujia people,containing rich Tujia folk and cultural awareness with distinct features of Tujia folk and unique human charateristics.Reading the protoecological Tujia dances by M.M.Bakhtin′s carnival theory,this essay holds that the protoecological Tujia dances typically demonstrate the charateristics of the entire people,rituals,the absence of distance and buffooneries in M.M.Bakhtin′s carnival theory.This kind of dances are the carrier of poetic cultural mentality of Tujia people and the release of the carnivalized life force,fully displaying Tujia free spirit,manifesting the individual life consciousness of Tujia membership and containing profound carnival connotations.
