Abstract

Both Tibetan Buddhism and Taoism have a very long hsitory;both Chinese and Indian ancient documents have mythico-historical records about the introduction of Taoism into India in the third or fourth century.Buddhism,after being introduced into China,mixed up with Taoism.Indian monks,who returned to India fromChina,brought back various forms of Taoist mysticism.The Taoist mysticism was adopted by Indian tantra.Indian tantra was introduced into Tubo in the eighth century,so was its Taoist content.Taoist mysticismwas gradually merged into tibetan Buddhism.
