The Contemporary Value of the Ecological Thinking of Confucianism and Taoism

Abstract

There contains abundant ecological thought in basic concepts of between man and nature, the greatness of kindheartedness, between things and self, the governance of sage king in Confucianist culture and in ideas of The law of Tao goes by self-so,unity of things and self, and four wisdoms of kindness and thriftiness of Taoist culture.Confucianism and Taoism culture,with its organic holistic view of between man and nature,its ethical view of harmonious equality between man and nature,development view of man and heaven,has its rationality;however,it also has simple,negative historical limitations.The inheritance and development of reasonable ecological thought in Confucianism and Taoism culture will be of contemporary referential value for contemporary construction of systematic holistic view of organic relations between man and nature,the ethical view of love for nature and myriad of things,sustainable development view of harmony between man and nature,and provides important ecological ideological and cultural resources for construction of a resource-saving and environment-friendly society.
