Abstract
This paper is believed that urban diseases which reflect on various urban landscapes are more and more striking. So,the control and guidance of urban landscape to urban construction are increasingly important. It points out that only to master clearly the essence of urban design can realize scientific urban design. The essence of urban design includes that the changes of urban structure and function can lead to the changes of urban landscape, however, the changes of urban landscape in turn also bring impact on urban function and urban service. It also brings forward that a comprehensive framework for urban landscape analysis is proposed to help elucidate this interrelationship. It is finally argued that it is indispensable to analyze urban landscape changes frequently from the perspective of broad-scale urban design.
