Abstract

Objective:To investigate the role of colour coded Doppler sonography and power Doppler sonography in the diagnosis of neonatal adrenal hemorrhage and congenital neuroblastoma. Methods: We investigated eight neonates with adrenal hemorrhage and one patient with congenital neuroblastoma by colour coded Doppler sonography and power Doppler sonography. Results: Six hemorrhages were cystic, whereas the neuroblastom and four adrenal hemorrhages had a solid appearence. Colour coded Doppler sonography and power Doppler sonographg demonstrated vessels within the neuroblastoma. In none of the ten adrenal hemorrhages could be showed either with conventional colour coded Doppler sonography or power Doppler sonography. Conclusion: Conventional colour coded Doppler sonography and power Doppler sonography are useful to differentiate between neuroblastoma and adrenal haemorrhage.
