Abstract
Objective: To evaluate the interference of intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI) procedure in the embryonic development. Methods Fifty-three cycles of in vitro fertilization (IVF) were selected, and sibling oocytes were fertilized with conventional IVF or ICSI respectively. Results In ICSI group, the dissolved oocytes rate and fertilization rate were significantly higher than those of IVF group (P0.01). The number of high quality embryos in ICSI group was similar to that of IVF group, but the number of embryos with more than 50% debris in ICSI group was remarkably higher than that of IVF group (P0.01). The number of frozen embryos in ICSI group was smaller than that of IVF group (P0.01). Conclusion ICSI procedure may affect embryonic development in IVF-ET.
