Abstract

A novel cometabolic trichloroethylene(TCE) degrading strain Em-1 was isolated from the soil nearby a gas station and characterized morphologically, biochemically and physiologically.Combined with 16S rRNA sequence analysis,it was identified as Pseudomonas sp.It could grow with toluene as the sole carbon source.Analysis of growth curve showed that Em-1 could reach the logarithmic phase around 8 h.Continuous sampling showed that toluene was exhausted within 1 d.With 168 h incubation in mineral salt media with 200 mg/L toluene and 50 mg/L TCE,the TCE bioremoval efficiency could reach 29.6%.The study would provide some reference for further study in TCE biodegradation by co-metabolism.
