Abstract
The overall aim of the English curriculum is to train students to gain comprehensive ability of using language. At present the task-based learning is being proposed in the New Curriculum Requirement published by the Ministry of Education. The teaching mode based on task-based learning is to fulfill the tasks, experience success and enhance the ability of language application in reality through perception, experience, practice, participation and co-operation under the instruction of a teacher. This paper briefly summarizes the theoretical basis of task-based listening teaching of college English, probes into the design of tasks of listening teaching and illustrates this kind of teaching mode with a detailed teaching plan. The writer believes the listening teaching mode based on task-based learning will play an important role in improving listening classroom teaching and training students’ creative ability.
