Abstract

This text is mainly about the design of a system of Polarization Lidar, which has been developed for measuring profiles of de- polarization ratio of cirrus clouds in day and night. The fundamental principle of polarization lidar is briefly introduced. Overall structure and specifications of the polarization lidar , as well as measurement method and data processing method and the result analysis, are de- scribed. The primary observational results over Qingdao show that the depolarization ratio for cirrus clouds varies from 0.1 to 0.2.
