Abstract
Synthesis methods of symmetric and asymmetric Gemini quaternary ammonium salt surfactants with ester group( esterquats) as the spacer and as the hydrophobic group were summarized separately. Meanwhile,performance and applications of the synthesized Gemini esterquats were briefed. Future development of such category of surfactant was prospected.
