Abstract
Web GIS is the development trend of the traditional GIS. Now there are many implementations as well as many difficulties. The paper discusses the conditions and the main technical difficulties of the current Web GIS develop- ment. It analyses in detail the concept of a XML based scalable vector graphics language (SVG), and its advantages when used in Web GIS, and the key points to construct real time Web GIS. An instance of an application is given.
