Abstract
With the development of modern cities, people have paid more and more attention to the urban pedestrian spaces and walk-way system, the planning of the system has great influence on im-proving the visual and physical qualities of urban environment and molding urban identity. Firstly, this paper introduces the actuality of pedestrian space system, secondly,it discusses the essential-ity of the planning of pedestrian space system, and analyses some sticking points in pedestrian space system. This paper also takes Shanhaiguan as a case study, the result of the research indicates that planning pedestrian space system should promote the status of human, improve the reconstruction of central business districts, the transshipment of pub-lic transportation, and crossing facilities.
