Abstract

You+VP1 is different from You+VP2.You1 is a verb,and its object VP1 can only be a few monosyllabic or disyllabic verbs,while You2,with its rich structures,has three grammatical functions,and its VP2 is not confined by syllable or by property.You+VP2 emerged in the Shang Dynasty.Later You disappeared,which was largely due to Le.The function of Le resulted in the vanishing of You+VP2.The revival of You+VP2 is the result of the influences of dialects,foreign words,media,linguistic mechanisms and the advantages of You+VP2 itself.
