Abstract

Objective:To determine effects of zinc intervention on the absorption of dietary iron.Methods:520 pre school children aged 6 to 7 years(equal numbers of boys and girls),who were divided randomly into 4 groups:zinc supplement group, zinc plus micronutrient supplement group, micronutrient supplement group and control group. The experiment lasted for 10 weeks. Before and after zinc and micronutrients supplemented, blood samples were analyzed for haemoglobin(HB).Results:The observations showed that the concentration of HB in micronutrient supplement group is significantly higher than the others( P0 05 ),the absorption of dietary iron is affected apparently by micronutrients. Conclusion:Attention should be paid to the supplementation of other nutrients before choosing some micronutrients be supplied of dietary for child.
