Abstract

Objective:To evaluate the results of the length of post-operative immobilization of displaced,intra-articular calcaneus fracture. Methods:Two groups used the same operative technique and post-operative protocols, except for the length of post-operative immobilization.32 patients(36 fractures) that were mobilized after 1 week of surgery(Group A) were compared to 16 patients(20 fractures) that were casted for 6 weeks. Results:The Maryland Scores for Group A (mean 85.6) and Group B(mean 74.8) are significantly different statistically( P 0.05).Conclusions:The results of post-operative mobilization(Group A) are better than post-operative immobilization(Group B) in Maryland Scores for displaced,intra-articular calcaneus fractures.
