After the Qin and the Han Dynasties, school education gradually started in the Tujia nationality area. The education took Confucianism tradition as its dominant content in teaching and imperial examination and moral enlightening as its basic educational ideas and major objectives. Even in modern times, the ideas of traditional education of the Tujia nationality still have certain influence on its society.
