The paper analyzes the achievements and the development tendency of scientific research of soil and water conservation of the Loss Plateau.It puts forward key study fields of the process and mechanism of soil erosion,potentiality and control of vegetation rehabilitation,the structure and law of large-scale soil erosion and soil and water conservation,evaluation theory and models of environmental effect of soil and water loss and treatment,the evaluation of ecological service function for soil and water loss management,the study of soil and water conservation in different scales and ecological building modes in accordance with the needs of national ecological building and present status of study on soil and water conservation of the Loss Plateau.
