Investigation of treatment on postpartum depression with methods of reinforcing deficiency and removing phlegm-dampness and blood stasis,nourishing brain and inducing resuscitation

Postpartum depression(PPD) is one of the most common mental disorders in women,applying Chinese medicine for preventing and curing PPD has become the general concerned topic in medical and social fields.Based on the summary of ancient medical books on descriptions of PPD,we explain the pathological characteristic which is full of deficiency and stasis,as well,emphasize the importance of adjusting consciousness on the pathological basis mentioned above,furthermore,analyze the features on treatment from modern Chinese medical physicians for this disease and elucidate the influence of Chinese medicine for relevant neurotransmitters and endocrine in PPD in modern foundational researches.Finally,we advocate that the theory of deficiency of qi and blood,blockage of phlegm-dampness and blood stasis,consciousness without control is the basic pathogenesis of PPD,and thus take methods of reinforcing deficiency and removing phlegm-dampness and blood stasis,nourishing brain and inducing resuscitation as the fundamental treatment rule.
