Comparison between contrast enhanced ultrasound and colour Doppler ultrasound differentiation diagnosis of hepatic tumors

Abstract

Objective To compare color Doppler ultrasound with real-time contrast enhanced ultrasound in differential diagnostic value of hepatic material lesions.Methods Seventy-two patients(79 hepatic material tumors) underwent contrast enhanced ultrasound and color Doppler ultrasound examinations,and were compared with pathologic results.Results In 79 hepatic material tumors,59 were hepatocellular carcinoma,10 hepatic hemangiomas,9 hepatic ambulant carcinoma and 1 solitary necrotic nodule of liver.Color Doppler ultrasound detect the arterial blood flow in 51 hepatic material lesions.All hepatic material lesions except one solitary necrotic nodule were variously enhanced in different phases.The diagnostic accuracies of contrast ultrasound and color Doppler ultrasound were 94.91% and 81.36%,respectively,while those in diagnosis of hepatic material lesions were 94.94% and 75.95%,respectively(P0.05).Conclusion Real-time contrast ultrasound significantly improves the accuracy in diagnosis of hepatic material lesions compared with the color Doppler ultrasound;it is a useful technique in the diagnosis and differential diagnosis of hepatic benign material lesions and hepatic malignant material lesions.
