Abstract
Hot network events refer to the events that are released by network media, form public opinions and become major concerns. The year 2009 saw quite a few of them and they showed a series of characteristics typical of communication studies: spreading rapidly with corresponding network vocabulary;expanding obviously with participants;spreading generally with their own regularity;reflecting new meanings to the audience psychology;being difficult in identifying and confirming the information accuracy and reliability. They have posed challenges to the existing theories of communication studies in the aspect of their pattern, control and result such as exceeding the present spreading mode, breaking through the theory of the check-maker,and developing the theory of agenda-setting.
