A Study on Production Efficiency of Chinese Construction Industry Based on DEA

In order to accurately measure production efficiency of Chinese construction industry,this article studies the internal efficiency and external efficiency of construction industry in China with the method of DEA from the vertical view of Industry self-development and the horizontal view of the industry competition.It shows that the production efficiency of the Chinese construction industry was parallels with the development of the national economy in 1998~2007.Its own internal construction has been strengthened,the quality of the content industry has been improved and its productivity has been improved continuously with the development of the national economy.However,the pace of construction industry lagged far behind the pace of development in the external environment in which the external efficiency of the construction industry plummeted since 2002,especially after 2004.The industrial competitive advantages have disappeared gradually.It is not in favor of the future development of the construction industry.Hereby,this article proposes some policy and suggestions for the future development of the construction industry to improve the production efficiency of Chinese construction industry.
