Abstract
Nano silica was modified by means of soap-free emulsion polymerization with α-methacrylic acid (MA) as monomer. Process conditions such as reaction temperature, time and ratio of materials had been investigated with orthogonal experiment method. Nano silica particles before and after modification were characterized by IR and DTA respectively. Optimums of modified reaction were summarized as follows:reaction temperature was 80℃, reaction time was 3h and the ratio of MA to nano silica by mass was 3∶100.
