Abstract
Expression of the antigens recognized by MAb SC 13A in 157 breast mass specimens from patients were studied by immunohistochemical technique. 75 of 84 (89.3% ) breast cancers specimens were stained by the MAb, and more than half of the stained tumor tissues were observed in the SC 13A binding of 46 (54.8%) cases. This association has been confirmed in our series and extended to show, for the first time, that the binding of the SC 13A antigen was correlated with breast cancer. Some weak re activities with the MAb were also seen in 21.9% (16 of 73 ) of benign breast hyperplastic disease. It may relate to the antigen expression in the benign diseases. The findings indicated that detection of this antigen may provide a clinically useful methed for the characteristics of the breast cancer.
