Abstract

The self-made amino-terminated hyperbranched polymer(HBP-NH2) was applied to modify cotton fabrics in order to achieve salt-free dyeing with reactive dyes.Factors of pH value, concentration of HBPNH2,dipping time, curing temperature and washing process prior to dyeing on dyeing behaviors were discussed.Optimum conditions were defined as follows: cotton fabric was treated with 6 g/L HBP-NH2 at pH value 5.5~6.0,then dried at 80°C for 5 min, cured at 120°C for 3 min and rinsed with hot water. The modified dyeings had similar K/S value and fastness compared to those of the conventional dyeings, even no salt was added to the dye bath in modified fabric dyeing.
