Disease spectrum analysis of 1268 cases hospitalized after Wenchuan earthquake

【Objectives】To analyze the clinical distribution of 1 268 cases hospitalized sick or wounded in the earthquake,and provide medical information for the earthquake disaster relief in the future. 【Methods】We reviewed the clinical data of 1 268 cases remedied by our hospital after the earthquake,and analyzed the general con-ditions and traumatic conditions of them.【Results】Among all of the 1 268 cases,667 cases (52.6%) were male and 601 cases (47.4%) were female,462 cases (36.4%) were over 60 years old or under the age of 20; 803 cases (63.3%) were admitted among the first 3 days after the earthquake; 1229 cases (96.92%) belonged to Trauma/wound category; 929 cases (73.27%) were involved in orthopaedic treatment. Among the 1 229 Trauma/wound cases,according to ISS score,568 cases (46.22%) were injured seriously,25 cases (2.03%) were complicated with shock,25 cases (2.03%) were complicated with compartment syndrome,8 cases (0.63%) were complicated with compression syndrome and acute renal failure,1 case(0.08%) was complicated with clostridial myonecrosis,10 cases (0.81%) were died in hospital.【Conclusion】The number of patients after Wenchuan earthquake was large,and these patients mainly admitted among the first 3 days,injured seriously,many of them were macrotrauma or multitrauma,almost all of them were involved in orthopedic treatment.
