Abstract
Objective: To investigate the etiologic factors of chronic prostatitis following sexually transmitted urethritis.Methods: The pathogens have been detected in 84 patients with chronic prostatitis following sexually transmitted urethritis.Results: 53 strains (63.1%) of bacteria were cultured in expressed prostatic secretions(EPS) from 84 patients,in which gonococcus was the majority of cultures,accounting for 38.1%.23 strains (27.4%) of mycoplasma were cultured in expressed prostatic secretions from 84 patients,21 ureaplasma urialyticum (UU) among them (25%).Chlamydia trachomatis (CT) were detected by the dot immunochromatography assay in expressed prostatic secretions,26.2% (22/84) showed positive results.And 14 cases with compound pathogen (16.7%) were also detected.Conclusion: Gonococcus,ureplasma urialyticum and chlamydia trachomatis were the main pathogens of chronic prostatitis following sexually transmitted urethritis.The results indicate that pathogen examination plays an important role in treatment of chronic prostatitis following sexually transmitted urethritis.Meanwhile much attention should be paid to the psychological treatment.
