Abstract

The efficiency of baffled biological aerated filter(BBAF)under intermittent aeration mode for domestic sewage treatment in small towns was studied, and the influence of aeration time/non-aeration time on the treatment effect was investigated. The results show that under the conditions of air/wastewater ratio of 8 ∶1,aeration time/non-aeration time of 1.5 h/1 h and 1.25 h/1.25 h,and when the influent COD,TN and TP are 53 to 275 mg/L,16.83 to 47.68 mg/L and 1.58 to 3.75 mg/L respectively, the effluent quality can meet the first level B criteria specified in the Discharge Standard of Pollutants for Municipal Wastewater Treatment Plant (GB 18918-2002). The aeration time/non-aeration time of 1.25 h/1.25 h saves energy relatively, and it can be used as main running condition.
