Plasma exchange treatment of hepatic failure: An observation of clinical effect

Objective To observe the effect of liver plasma exchange(PE) on hepatic failure.Methods 50 cases of hepatic failure in different periods of treatment were treated with plasma exchange(PE),which was based on routine medical treatment.Clinical symptoms and blood biochemistry were observed and the clinical efficacy was evaluated before and after the treatment.Results The clinical symptoms were improved to some extent and liver function index reduced significantly.The total effective rate was 78.00%,with 87.5.00% in the early stage and 80.00% in the intermediate stage.There was significant statistical difference for the treatment group compared with the control group(P0.05).Conclusion PE treatment of hepatic failure is safe and effective.It is particularly suitable for the early treatment.
