Abstract

OBJECTIVE To investigate the pathogens distribution and drug resistance in suppurative otitis media,so as to guide the clinical usage of antibiotics.METHODS Middle ear discharges were collected from patients with suspected suppurative otitis media that admitted in our hospitalfrom Feb.2009 to Feb.2011,and bacterial culture and drug susceptibility test were performed using Bact-IST microbiological analysis system.RESULTS There were 92 strains of microbes isolated from 117 cases,88 of them were bacteria and 4 were fungus.Isolation rates were as follows: Staphylococcus aureus was 47.8%,Acinetobacter baumanli was 19.6%,Pseudomonas aeruginosa was 17.4%.S.anreus was 100.0% sensitive to vancomycin and teicoplanin,P.aeruginosa and A.baumannii were 100.0% sensitive to imipenem.CONCLUSION S.aureus,P.aeruginosa and A.baumannii are the main pathogenic bacteria causing suppurative otitis media.Performing the ear discharge culture and drug susceptibility test is of great value for clinical drug application.
