Abstract
Taking the closed flat steel box girder of a long span suspension bridge as an example, this paper conducts a study of the influences of fairing, guide vane, parapet and switch rail on the critical flutter wind speed of the girder through sectional model wind tunnel test. The results of the test indicate that the fairing, guide vane and ventilation ratio of the parapet have notable influences on the critical flutter wind speed, however, the influences of positions of the parapet and switch rail on the flutter wind speed are not notable. Therefore,a good optimization of aerodynamic profile of the girder is confirmed, which may provide reference for the wind resistant design of similar steel box girders.
